AmCham's president Michael Glazer said the American Week would
include various business, social, and cultural events.
During this week, leading US companies such as Cisco, IBM, Hewlett
Packard, Microsoft, and others, will organise presentations.
At today's official opening ceremony, US Ambassador William
Montgomery and Croatian Chamber of Commerce (HGK) president Nadan
Vidosevic said the event would contribute to expanding US-Croatia
relations, especially in the field of economy.
The funds raised during the American Week will be given for charity
purposes. The wife of Ambassador Montgomery, Lynn Montgomery,
presented a project of sponsoring mine removal on 17 fields in the
Zadar area.
The project includes 25 sub-projects of mine removal on family
houses and yards in the villages of Pristeg, Zemunik Gornji, and
Paljuv.
To explain to potential donors attending the ceremony the need to
urgently raise money for mine-removal, Montgomery invited to the
ceremony two boys who suffered serious injuries in mine
explosions.
