WASHINGTON, Sept 29 (Hina) - The president of the management board of Croatia's pharmaceutical giant "Pliva", Zeljko Covic, on Tuesday in Washington received an award as the best businessman for Europe, Near East, and Africa.

Tuesday in Washington received an award as the best businessman for
Europe, Near East, and Africa. #L#
Awards were also presented to Robert Shapiro from the US company
"Monsanto", Narayana Murthy of India's "Infosys Technologies", and
Daniel Servitje Montull, president of the management board of
"Grupo Industrial Bimbo".
"Pliva today realises 60 per cent of its income on the world market
and according to some criteria it could be called a multinational
company", said Covic stressing the award belonged to the company.
Speaking about plans for the future, Covic said Pliva should become
a strong company, able to successfully compete on the European
Union and USA markets.
The awards presented last night have been presented for six years to
business people from all over the world by the magazine "Emerging
Markets" and the investment-banking corporation "ING Barings". The
award-giving ceremony is organised so as to coincide with the
annual session of the International Monetary Fund and the World
Bank.
