ZAGREB, Sept 23 (Hina) - The Croatian Government on Thursday was informed of yesterday's triple murder in the Zagreb municipal court and expressed the deepest condolences to the families of the killed victims, Interior Minister Ivan Penic told reporters after the Government's session.#L# On Wednesday, Mato Oraskic (28) killed his ex-wife, Gordana Oraskic (26), a judge Ljiljana Hvalec (39), and his wife's attorney, Hajra Prohic (43), and wounded a typist Wednesday morning in a shooting spree during a divorce settlement discussion in court in Zagreb. The killer Oraskic was apprehended by police at Bregana, the Croatian-Slovene border crossing, 30 minutes after the heinous crime happened. According to a statement which Justice Minister Zvonimir Separovic gave yesterday, the shooting occurred as a result of slack security at the municipal court, as Oraskic took the weapon inside despite an automatic and hand-held metal detector at the court entrance. There were four court police officers and one justice police officer working at the court at the time the shooting occurred. Today Minister Penic said all bodies of the state administration must devote more attention on and allocate greater means for their security. Asked how Oraskic could pass into the municipal court despite an automatic and hand-held metal detector, Penic said the Interior Ministry was not authorised to protect courts but it is within jurisdiction of justice police and their security services. According to given statements of eye-witnesses and an investigation into this murder, Oraskic passed through the land registry department avoiding detectors and sneaked into the building of the court, Penic explained. The minister reiterated that Oraskic, a former policeman, had been suspended from his duty on 19 August this year due to having committed theft. Upon his suspension, his badge and pistol were taken back by police. During the arrest, a "walter" pistol was found in Oraskic's car and he possessed that weapon illegally. According to his health records, Oraskic has never been treated for any mental disorder of illness. (hina) ms
