OSIJEK CLOSES OSIJEK, Sept 18 (Hina) - The Second Croatian Slavic Congress ended in the eastern Croatian town of Osijek Saturday. The congress achieved its goal - the promotion of Croatian language studies, which is a very demanding
task with great ethnic significance, Radoslav Katicic, winner of the award for the contribution in philology named after Stjepan Ivsic, said at the closing. The holding of the Second Croatian Slavic Congress established a tradition in extraordinarily unfavourable conditions, Katicic said. This gives us the justification for the confidence to turn to the future, he added. The congress opened up several facets of Croatian studies and connected them into a whole to give an initiative to all Slavists to continue working on the promotion of Croatian studies in various environments, Katicic said.
