ZAGREB, Sept 17 (Hina) - The Croatian National Sabor's House of
Counties on Friday endorsed two bills from the area of agriculture -
the bill on changes to the Law on Incentives and Benefits in
Agriculture and Fishery and the bill on changes to the Law on
Farmland.
Croatia must have a consistent agricultural policy on which its
incentives would be based and not change that policy frequently,
MPs said in a debate on the bill on incentives in agriculture.
The MPs also criticised the proposal that fishermen be given
increased incentives for fish, tuna and lobster catches, instead of
being approved a lower price of diesel oil.
The MPs also requested that, along with the already proposed ones,
incentives for some other agricultural products be increased as
well.
Asked by Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) representatives how much
state funds would be required for this, a representative of the
Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS) replied the money needed was just an
insignificant part of what had already been spent for the financial
reorganisation of some banks and other economic failures.
