CROATIAN AMBASSADOR TO US VISITS MEXICO

CIUDAD DE MEXICO, Sept 16 (Hina) - Croatian Ambassador to the United States Miomir Zuzul on Wednesday evening attended a reception given by Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo, held on the occasion of Mexico's Independence Day on Mexico. Mexico recognised Croatia in 1992 and Zuzul presented the Mexican President with credentials in March 1999. During his stay in Ciudad de Mexico, Zuzul held numerous talks, including those with the main director of the European section in the Mexican Foreign Ministry, Salvador Campos, and the president of the Foreign Policy committee, senator Fernando Solana. During the talks, both parties expressed readiness to promote bilateral cooperation, particularly economic, cultural and scientific cooperation. Zuzul invited the Mexican President to visit Croatia to establish relations between the Croatian National Sabor and the Mexican Parliament. Croatian Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit Mexico most probably in early 2000, at the invitation of Mexican Foreign Minister Rosario Green. The Croatian Ambassador also met representatives of the Croatian community in Mexico, headed by president of the Croatia-Mexican Association Laura del Campo Steta. (hina) it
