The EU Council of Ministers on Wednesday published a new, final
version of the statement from the Monday session, which included
the correction.
The part of the sentence from the first statement, which mentioned
"progressive political forces", was replaced in the final version
by "political forces in Croatia".
The first statement was published on Monday, after the Council
postponed the adoption of a decision on establishing a mixed
consultative task force between the EU and Croatia.
The corrected sentence reflects more precisely the meaning of the
debate and conclusions reached by the ministers as well as the
meaning of the idea on the task force, which had already been
discussed within the EU Commission, Hina's correspondent was told
by official sources in Brussels. The same sources also said the
first statement was edited in a rush, after the ministerial session
which discussed a number of items on the agenda and lasted the whole
day.
Since the new EU Commission is being established, its services in
Brussels still have no concrete plan or a schedule for the
consultations mentioned in the conclusions of the EU Council of
Ministers.
The mixed task force, made up of EU and Croatian experts, should
represent working continuation of the informal political dialogue
held at the ministerial level during the July session of the EU
Council of Ministers, an official with the EU Commission's services
told Hina.
The task force should help Croatia prepare for the future talks with
the EU, once the necessary political conditions have been created.
The task force should be open toward all political organisations
and associations of the civil society in Croatia, the official
said.
The selection of experts of the task force will depend on topics to
be discussed, the official said.
