ZAGREB, Sept 14 (Hina) - The Croatian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday issued a statement welcoming Indonesia's decision to accept U.N. peace troops. Croatia has been following closely and with concern developments prior to and after the
referendum on the independence of East Timor and it hails the decision of the Indonesian Government to accept the assistance of the United Nations in stopping the conflict and establishing peace and security. Croatia believes the sending of peace troops will positively affect the security situation as well as the implementation of referendum results and the promotion of permanent peace in the area, the statement said. Croatia also welcomes the readiness of countries willing to send peace troops to East Timor, and hopes the U.N. Security Council will soon adopt a resolution in connection with that.(hina) jn rml
