HRVACE/VRLIKA, Aug 27 (Hina) - The fire which broke out on August 24 on the southern slope of Mount Dinara in central Croatia is still raging. In the past three days, more than 400 hectares of shrubbery were burnt. The fire is
spreading towards the summit and is threatening the Koljane village, commander of the local voluntary fire-fighting society, Stipe Antic, said Friday. Thursday's attempt by canadairs to continue putting out the flames was unsuccessful due to thick smoke which rose to high altitudes, and they will continue their efforts Friday. Fire-fighters who are unable to fight the fire due to mines laid during the Homeland War, are keeping watch to protect residential areas from possible new fires.
