SPLIT, Aug 13 (Hina) - A fire which hit an area near Kasteli, central Dalmatian coastline, was extinguished. Another two fires in the wider Split area - in Zrnovnica and Seget Gornji - were brought under control, Split fire service
reported on Friday. The blaze near Seget Gornji was caused by a fire which a still unknown perpetrator made in the open air on Wednesday afternoon. County police said 250 hectares of pine wood, macchia and grass burnt. Firemen are still controlling the contained fire. About 120 hectares of pinewood, vineyards, orchards and other agricultural plant caught the fire above Kasteli. The blaze was completely put out, but firefighters on duty are patrolling the fire-burnt site. Fortunately, a rain which fell in the Split area last night helped firemen to battle the blaze.
