SARAJEVO, Aug 17 (Hina) - The Office of the High Representative for
Bosnia-Herzegovina (OHR) expects the Croatian and Bosnian
parliaments to ratify an agreement on the border line between the
two countries which was signed on July 30 in Sarajevo by presidents
Tudjman and the Bosnian-Muslim representative to the Bosnian
presidency Alija Izetbegovic, OHR spokeswoman Alexandra
Stiglmayer told journalists Tuesday.
She denounced claims of criticism to the agreement which Bosnian
Serbs lodged as well as the criticism of Neum mayor Ivan Bender.
"We cannot take Bender's comments seriously", Stiglmayer said.
Bender claims that the border in his municipality has been changed
illegally and that no-one consulted local residents about the
matter.
Stiglmayer reminded that the agreement resulted after long and
trying efforts put in by a team of experts from both countries.
Implementation of the agreement will be conducted in such a manner
to fully accommodate the lives of local residents such as in
Kostajnica where a special regime will be put in place with the
introduction of border passes.
