BRIJUNI, Aug 13 (Hina) - Deputy tourism minister Vinka Cetinski on
Friday spoke with the president of the European Federation of
Tourist Press, Antonio Conte as well as a member of the
"International Tourist Press" and member of the federation of
writers and journalists in tourism Antonio Bonneli.
The two are currently visiting Croatia following an invitation
forwarded by the Croatian Tourism Ministry and Croatian Tourist
Association.
During the talks, two projects were launched: "Millennium - world
tourist attractions - jewels of Croatia's cultural heritage" and
"Croatia a spectacular place".
The Italian guests were particularly interested in information
regarding internationally significant manifestations to be
conducted in Croatia such as the Dubrovnik Summer Festival, the
Split Summer Festival, film manifestations and the various
associations concerned with organising film manifestations.
Bonnelli offered a project which would involve the publishing of a
brochure entitled "Croazia i luoghi dello spettacolo" which would
be printed as a special supplement to the "International Tourist
Press" magazine. The Tourism Ministry was interested in this
proposal.
Reflecting upon the numerous historical, cultural and economic
ties which connect Croatia and Italy, Cetinski emphasised that
Italy is the third most significant tourist market in Croatia with
751,000 Italians visiting our country in 1998. This was an increase
of 10 per cent compared to the year before.
Cetinski recalled that Italy and Croatia signed an agreement in
Rome in 1997 with the aim of bilateral cooperation in finding
methods of cooperation in the fields of strategic and destinational
market planning. Presentations were to depict Croatia as a new
European tourist destination with messages which highlight the
identity of this section of Europe.
