ZAGREB, July 29 (Hina) - The international community seeks reasons for its role of an arbiter in the area of former Yugoslavia in the protection of human rights, but it has used different yardsticks for the war in Croatia and

For the SNS leader the international community's assessment that "Serbs in Croatia were aggressors while Albanians in Kosovo were liberators" is unjust. ZAGREB, July 29 (Hina) - The international community seeks reasons
for its role of an arbiter in the area of former Yugoslavia in the
protection of human rights, but it has used different yardsticks
for the war in Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and for the Kosovo
crisis, said the President of the Serb People's Party (SNS), Milan
Djukic, at Thursday's news conference in Zagreb.
For the SNS leader the international community's assessment that
"Serbs in Croatia were aggressors while Albanians in Kosovo were
liberators" is unjust.
He blamed Croatia's official policy for the slow return of Croatian
Serb refugees, adding that Croatian authorities did not say
anything about "crimes against Serbs after the 'Flash' and 'Storm'
(operations), which were committed by order of official
authorities."
Djukic believed that the recent visit of the International War
Crimes Tribunal's Chief Prosecutor Louise Arbour to Croatia
indicated a change in the international community's attitude
toward Croatia.
Croatia is expected to fulfil assumed commitments, what the
Government has so far avoided with support of certain circles in the
international community, Djukic told reporters.
"Statements by Justice Minister (Separovic) reflect cynicism of
the official authorities," Djukic added.
He supported democratisation of Yugoslavia adding that it was
necessary to topple Milosevic's regime for Serbia to be able to come
closer to the international community.
A Vice President of the SNS party, Milan Vekic, commented on the
representation of national minorities in the Croatian National
Sabor, claiming that the Serb community should have nine MPs, while
other minorities together seven or eight deputies to the Sabor.
He described the current percentage of representatives of national
minorities as unfair and unsustainable.
