PRISTINA, July 22 (Hina) - The deadline for the first phase of disarmament of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) expired last night at midnight, and there has been no confirmation as yet on whether Albanian soldiers have fully observed
the deadline. According to an agreement signed a month ago by NATO and the KLA, KLA members were to hand over all heavy and one third of light weapons by Wednesday midnight. NATO officials have not yet confirmed that the procedure had been fully completed, but they did express satisfaction with the dynamics of disarmament before the completion of the first phase. The KLA should by 20 September hand over all weapons, except for hunting weapons and pistols, which a certain number of KLA officers will be allowed to keep.(hina) rml
