FISCHER MEETS CROATIAN OPPOSITION REPRESENTATIVES

ZAGREB, July 8 (Hina) - German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer and representatives of six Croatian opposition parties on Thursday discussed Croatia's international position and its internal political affairs. Before talking to opposition representatives, Fischer, on his first visit to Zagreb, held talks with Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic. "We took the opportunity in meeting with Minister Fischer to acquaint him with our views on Croatia's international position, but also to inform him about some events on the internal political plan," said Drazen Budisa, president of the Croatian Social Liberal Party and current coordinator of the Opposition Six group. The group today also met with special United States envoy for the implementation of the Dayton peace agreement, James Dobbins. "Fischer expressed the desire for a constructive approach to the realisation of that project by all political factors in Croatia," Budisa said. Germany was the first to put forward the idea for the Stability Pact. The opposition representatives who took part in the talks with Fischer were, besides Budisa, Ivica Racan of the Social Democratic Party, Vlado Gotovac of the Liberal Party, Ivan Jakovcic of the Istrian Democratic Assembly, Radimir Cacic of the Croatian People's Party, and Luka Trconjic of the Croatian Peasants' Party.
