ZAGREB, June 28 (Hina) - Vladimir Seks reiterated on Monday that the ruling party, the HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union), did not accept the demand of the Opposition Six that the Parliament could pass an electoral law only after the
fulfilment of some conditions set by the opposition. "No for a dictate, yes for talks," Seks told reporters in the building of the National Sabor. He called on representatives of the Opposition Six to explain to him and reporters on Tuesday whether their demands should be taken as an ultimatum or they were just proposals for negotiations. If talks between the HDZ and the opposition resume, contentious issues might be solved at an extraordinary session of the Sabor, which will be scheduled for July. ZAGREB, June 28 (Hina) - Vladimir Seks reiterated on Monday that the
ruling party, the HDZ (Croatian Democratic Union), did not accept
the demand of the Opposition Six that the Parliament could pass an
electoral law only after the fulfilment of some conditions set by
the opposition.
"No for a dictate, yes for talks," Seks told reporters in the
building of the National Sabor.
He called on representatives of the Opposition Six to explain to him
and reporters on Tuesday whether their demands should be taken as an
ultimatum or they were just proposals for negotiations.
If talks between the HDZ and the opposition resume, contentious
issues might be solved at an extraordinary session of the Sabor,
which will be scheduled for July.
If the Opposition Six sticks to the dictate, the HDZ is likely to
forward its draft bill on election into the parliamentary procedure
in September, Seks said adding that he believes agreement will be
reached if not now then in September.
This HDZ negotiator said the ruling party did not accept the demand
of the Opposition Six that the electoral law could be passed only
after a parliamentary discussion on intelligence and secret
services be held at the Sabor, an investigative commission be set up
to probe into possible abuse of these services, laws on the Croatian
Radio and Television and constituencies be adopted by consensus and
only after the code of conduct among political parties be
endorsed.
