OFFICE OF HIGH REPRESENTATIVE THREATENS SDA WITH SANCTIONS

SARAJEVO, June 24 (Hina) - The Office of the High Representative for Bosnia-Herzegovina, Carlos Westendorp, (OHR) on Thursday threatened to impose economic sanctions to all parts of the Croat- Moslem Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina with a Bosniak (Moslem) majority unless the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) continues to refuse the agreement on the reorganisation of the Zepce municipality in central Bosnia. It is the stance of the OHR that the agreement on Zepce which was worked on for more than six month with the mediation of Jacques Klein, is a good compromise which ensures the respect of the basic requests of both the Croat and Bosniak sides. An insignificant change to municipal borders of Zepce, Maglaj and Zavidovici, would ensure the formation of a new municipality with a relative Croat majority, which would protect the rights of Croats in the area, and Zepce would simultaneously be integrated into Zenica-Doboj Canton structures, and the Canton would, in turn, get use of tax revenues from the newly-established municipality. The refusal of the agreement on Zepce by the SDA leadership indicates it continues to aspire to war goals and is not interested in the establishment of the Federation, the statement, issued by Westendorp's Office, said.
