ZAGREB, June 11 (Hina) - The first session of the Council for
Cooperation between Croatia and the Federation of Bosnia-
Herzegovina was held in Zagreb on Friday, under the chairmanship of
Croatian President Franjo Tudjman.
The session resulted in the signing of the first two annexes to an
agreement on special relations between Croatia and BH Federation,
regarding cooperation in the fields of science and tourism.
The meeting also appointed a Council's standing committee, to be
chaired by the premiers of Croatia and BH Federation.
The agreement on special relations, signed at the end of last year,
determines a framework for cooperation between Croatia and BH
Federation, whereas the annexes serve to make the cooperation more
concrete. The annexes are to be adopted by July 1.
The annexes on cooperation in science and tourism were signed by
Milan Kovac, Croatia's Minister for Relations with Bosnia-
Herzegovina and BH Federation. The documents also must be signed by
the competent ministers of the Federation Government, after which
they are to be directed once again into parliamentary procedure.
Most of the annexes have been harmonised or are close to being
harmonised, Croatian Premier Zlatko Matesa said, expressing hope
that the remaining documents would be signed at the next meeting of
the committee, scheduled for early July in Sarajevo.
The Federation government yesterday submitted to Croatian
representatives nine opinions to 12 proposals by the Croatian
government, and added three new proposals, Federation Premier
Edhem Bicakcic said.
Asked about the annexes on military and economic cooperation,
Bicakcic said the Federation government had submitted its proposal
on economic cooperation.
As regards military cooperation, "the annex refers solely to
assistance in the event of disasters and has almost been
harmonised", said Bicakcic.
Anything relating to free trade is very complex for the two sides,
said Matesa, adding "some specific areas", such as military
cooperation, would have to be discussed extensively.
Along with the highest state officials from Croatia and BH
Federation, the session was attended by Deputy High Representative
to BH, Jacques Klein.
