ZAGREB, June 8 (Hina) - The Croatian Health and Health Insurance Union on Tuesday forwarded to Premier Zlatko Matesa a letter in which it voices its concern that a planned state budget revision will prevent a normal functioning of the
health sector. The trade union requests the government to find a financing model which would enable development in the health sector. The union also seeks the revocation of the present, so called monthly budgets for hospitals and head taxes for primary health care because, the union points out, this is a model for the health sector's bare survival. The union further requests the government to ensure means for regular salaries for health employees, in keeping with a valid work agreement, and to not accept International Monetary Fund pressure urging cuts in salary raises, i.e. raises of five or six instead of the envisaged 17 percent.(hina) ha jn
