NAGYKANIZSA, HUNGARY NAGYKANIZSA, June 18 (Hina) - Croatia's Ambassador to Hungary Zdenko Skrabalo on Friday opened a Croatian consulate in Nagykanizsa, a major economic and administrative centre in Hungary's Zala County. Skrabalo
presented Mijo Karagic, the president of the Croat minority's national self-government in Hungary, with a document in which Croatian President Franjo Tudjman proclaims him honorary consul. Karagic was also presented with a diplomatic passport by Assistant Foreign Minister Tonci Stanicic. Skrabalo and Stanicic pointed to the very good relations Croatia and Hungary enjoy. Some 8,500 Croats live around Nagykanizsa. At last year's elections they won nine local units of minority self-government units. Also present in Nagykanizsa today were Croatian and Hungarian MPs, representatives of both countries' governments, and officials of Zala County and Nagykanizsa.
