ZAGREB, May 30 (Hina) - On the occasion of Croatia's Statehood Day, Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Sunday laid a wreath at the Homeland Altar at Mount Medvednica overlooking Zagreb. Tudjman also signed the Memorial Book. "Today,
on the Statehood Day and the occasion of the ninth anniversary of the establishment of the free, independent, sovereign and democratic state of Croatia, I have laid a wreath at the Homeland Altar to pay tribute to all those who lived and died for the accomplishment of this greatest ideal of the Croatian people," he wrote in the book. Tudjman was accompanied by his wife Mrs. Ankica Tudjman and top Croatian officials. Present at the wreath-lying ceremony were also ambassadors of the UN Security Council permanent member-states and the Contact Group member-countries, led by the dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Zagreb, Apostolic Nuncio Giulio Einaudi.
