ZAGREB, June 11 (Hina) - The Croatian Parliament House of
Representatives will discuss a motion by the Opposition Six on the
establishment of a commission of inquiry to investigate the work of
intelligence and security services on Wednesday.
The House will vote on the suggestion that the issue be discussed at
the house's plenary session and that a resolution be adopted on the
situation in intelligence and security services, when the session
continues next week.
MPs of the ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) and six
opposition parties could not reach an agreement Friday on
explanations to the suggestion -- the HDZ is dissatisfied with the
explanation given by the Opposition Six, and the Opposition Six
refuses to discuss the issue with the HDZ.
MOs did not agree whether it was necessary to adopt the report on the
work of security services for a previous discussion at the session
of the Committee for National Security.
After the session, HDZ party bench president Vladimir Seks told
reporters he would meet with the Opposition Six coordinator Radimir
Cacic, on Monday or Tuesday, to try and reach a joint explanation.
He said members of the Opposition Six should participate in the
discussion about the work of intelligence services at the session
of the Committee for Internal Affairs and national Security. The
opposition MPs have for months refused to participate in the work of
parliament working bodies due to the failure of the parliament not
accepting their suggestion that a commission of inquiry should be
established to investigate the work of intelligence services.
Unless they accept to participate and if the committee session does
not take place, a group discussion will be impossible, Seks said.
