ZAGREB, June 11 (Hina) - About a thousand workers at Croatian Post and Croatian Telecommunications (HT) on Friday gathered in French Republic Square in downtown Zagreb protesting against a government motion on HT's privatisation. The
protest was organised by the Croatian Post and Telecommunications Trade Union (HSPT), which demands that the majority of HT's shares remain owned by the state, and that current and former HT employees be offered 15 percent of HT's worth, instead of the seven percent proposed by the government. HSPT Secretary-General Josip Pupic called on the protesters to support their delegation in its endeavour to speak to Premier Zlatko Matesa. The protest was organised by the Croatian Post and
Telecommunications Trade Union (HSPT), which demands that the

HSPT Secretary-General Josip Pupic called on the protesters to
support their delegation in its endeavour to speak to Premier

According to Pupic, the delegation will ask the Premier to not sell
more than 30 percent of HT to a foreign investor and to forward the
bill on HT's privatisation into third reading. The delegation will
also request the trade union's participation in choosing a
strategic investor and one seat in HT's supervisory and
administrative boards.
Today's protest was held as part of a general day-long strike in
Croatian Post and HT, during which only postal services were
reduced.
