PRESIDENT TUDJMAN RECEIVES UN HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR REFUGEES

ZAGREB, June 7 (Hina) - Croatia's President Franjo Tudjman on Monday received the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, Sadako Ogata, who said that since her last visit to Croatia positive steps forwards could be noticed, particularly in the legislation, the process of return and the security and safety of returnees. During the talks, President Tudjman said over 58,000 Serbs had returned to Croatia, whereas more than 100,000 people were still waiting for the return in villages and towns from which they had been expelled during the then Yugoslav People's Army-supported Serb aggression and occupation. He pointed to the psychological consequences of the aggression, while the fate of some missing persons has not yet been established and mass graves have been discovered.
