WASHINGTON, May 28 (Hina) - The United States should do its best to
help Croatia to accomplish its goal of the full inclusion into
European and Atlantic institutions, said Congressman George
Radanovich on Friday.
This Republican representative from California handed his
statement on the occasion of the ninth anniversary of Croatia's
Statehood, into official documents of the House of Representatives
and expressed satisfaction for the organisation of the event
"Croatia in Chicago" held last month.
Radanovich pointed to the statement of the U.S. special envoy for
the implementation of the Dayton Accord, Robert Gelbard who said in
Chicago that the inclusion of Croatia into the full membership of
Western and Euro-Atlantic institutions should be strengthened
simultaneously with the promotion of trade and business ties with
Croatia.
Radanovich maintained that a goal of the U.S. policy should be the
full partnership with Croatia.
I am proud of being one out of two million people of the Croatian
descent living in the United States, read Radanovich's statement.
He added that people in Croatia held Americans and the United States
in high esteem. In this respect the Congressman cited words of a
famous Croatian poet, Antun Gustav Matos, who said in 1906 that the
"United States is the most important factor for the creation of the
Croatian democracy," adding that these words can be even more
applied at the moment.
Radanovich congratulated Croats for courage and persistence in the
struggle for their independence as well as for achievements in the
democratic political and economic development.
