SEKS PRESENTED WITH HONORARY CITIZEN OF VUKOVAR PLAQUE & KEY

VUKOVAR, May 28 (Hina) - Vice President of the Croatian National Sabor Vladimir Seks was presented on Friday with an honorary citizen of Vukovar plaque and the key to that eastern Croatian town at a session of the town council and the town authorities, held on the occasion of Croatian Statehood Day, May 30. Croatian President Franjo Tudjman decorated 136 persons with the "Vukovar 1991" memorial plaques for participation in the peaceful reintegration of eastern Croatia. Seks thanked citizens of Vukovar for the plaque and the key and called on them to persist in the reconstruction of and the return to their town. Also present at the session was an envoy of the Croatian President, Vesna Skare Ozbolt, who stressed that the "Vukovar 1991" memorial plaque was bestowed upon soldiers who defended Vukovar and on persons who took active part in the peaceful reintegration process. "The struggle for a peaceful reintegration of Croatia lasted two years. Politicians, common people, and everybody who had Vukovar and this part of Croatia in their hearts participated in the peace mission," said Skare-Ozbolt, adding that a period of grief and fear for eastern Croatia had ended with the return to Vukovar.
