Transport and Communications, Zeljko Luzavec, is attending a
session of the Council of Ministers of the European Conference of
Transport Ministers, which is being held in Warsaw and Krakow on
Wednesday and Thursday, the Croatian Transport Ministry reported
on Thursday.
Representatives from 41 European countries, the United States,
Canada, Japan, and some other countries, are discussing
cooperation in overcoming obstacles Europe's speedy transport
integration.
The session has adopted decisions and recommendations on
harmonising legal regulations and other conditions necessary for
the establishment of an all-European traffic network.
The meeting stressed the need for speeding up the construction of
traffic corridors, a decision adopted at previous conferences in
Helsinki and on Crete. The construction of the fifth and tenth
corridor with the help of private capital is especially important
for Croatia, the Ministry said in the statement.
In Warsaw, Luzavec met the EC Commissioner for Transport, Neil
Kinnock. Luzavec informed Kinnock about the damage and
difficulties Croatia was facing because of the Kosovo.
Kinnock said the European Union was preparing a programme of
financial assistance to countries facing problems because of the
Kosovo crisis, Kinnock said.
