BERAK, May 11 (Hina) - Croatian returnees to Berak, a village in Vukovar-Srijem County in eastern Croatia, on Tuesday continued their peaceful protest which began on May 7. About 300 returnees to Berak have been protesting day and
night since Friday by a central cross erected for the victims of the Homeland War. Addressing the protesters yesterday, Tompojevci municipal heads and Vukovar-Srijem County officials supported the rally, but suggested they be limited to one hour a day. The protesters however decided to continued with the 24-hour-long peaceful protests. The returnees have staged the protest to show their indignation at the fact that none of local Serbs, whom they suspect of complicity in the killings, persecution and harassment of Croats during the Serb aggression against eastern Croatia earlier this decade, including their village, has been brought to justice so far.(hina) it/ha
