ZAGREB, May 10 (Hina) - Croatian ombudsman Ante Klaric and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson on Monday held talks in Zagreb discussing the situation in Croatia, in particular in the field of human

ZAGREB, May 10 (Hina) - Croatian ombudsman Ante Klaric and the
United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson on
Monday held talks in Zagreb discussing the situation in Croatia, in
particular in the field of human rights.
UN's Robinson declined to make a statement to the press after the
talks, only saying she was very satisfied with the constructive
talks with Klaric.
"During the talks we also pointed to other dimensions in
approaching and dealing with human rights problems in Croatia, and
not only to political ones," Klaric told Hina, adding the talks also
tackled the problems of refugees and displaced persons.
The international community wants to solve the refugees' and
displaced persons' problems via pilot projects, the ombudsman
said, but assessed that was impossible.
The problem must be solved via a general stand covering the entire
former Yugoslav territory, because all displaced persons and
refugees must return to their homes, Klaric said, and added the
problems in question are not only of a political, but of a social and
economic nature as well.
The ombudsman said Robinson was also informed about problems in
neighbouring Bosnia and in Kosovo.
