protested over the assault on the 'Novi List' daily's two
reporters, Robert Franko and Ronaldo Brmalj, who were brutally
beaten up in Mostar last Friday.
We regard the Mostar case as an extreme example of intimidation and
keeping reporters under discipline as well as a metaphor for the
revival of having one opinion, such as the Army of Yugoslavia is
practising in Podgorica in treatment of a Croatian reporter, Antun
Masle, the trade union wrote in a public protest forwarded to
authorities of Croatia and Bosnia-Herzegovina and international
representatives in Bosnia.
We express concern at an atmosphere of intolerance and violence in
which it is possible in Bosnia and Croatia to beat, for instance,
trade unions' leaders, anti-Fascists and reporters. We ask
authorities in both countries and international representatives to
launch a prompt and effective investigation and bring perpetrators
to the justice, the protest read.
