ZAGREB, May 8 (Hina) - A local Radio 101 in Zagreb commenced the
celebration of its 15th anniversary with the techno and house party
on Friday evening.
On Saturday evening it will hold a great rock concert in the Sports'
Big Hall ("Velika Dvorana Sportova") to thank its audience for
having been faithful to the radio for the past 15 years, said Tamara
Pavlica, a member of the radio's managing board.
Its audience has been stable for years, she told Hina.
The popularly called "Stojedinica" was the first independent urban
radio at the time when it was established. It began broadcasting the
programme on May 8, 1984, in facilities of the undergraduates'
dormitory "Stjepan Radic" in Zagreb.
One of the hardest days during the last 15 years was the end of 1996
when the concession for the broadcasting had been refused to the
Radio, said Pavlica. Fortunately, its licence was soon renewed and
during that "hot November" the audience rose to 47 percent, she
added.
At the moment, the 25-30 percent of the total radio audience in
Zagreb are listeners to the Radio 101, she said.
This radio celebrates the 15th birthday without the editor-in-
chief and some journalists who marked the previous period.
The question of the chief editor can be solved by the end of this
month, she said adding that 75 percent of the radio is owned by its
20 workers, whereas the rest is owned by the city of Zagreb.
The programme scheme will not be changed, Pavlica added.
