GOVT ADOPTS TEXT OF PROJECT FOR HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION

ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - The Croatian Government on Thursday decided to organise a joint exercise with Slovenia in fire prevention and rescue entitled "Fire - 99". The Government also adopted a text of a project on strengthening the protection and promotion of human rights in Croatia, agreed upon by the Government and the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights. As a part of its attempts to support the activities of the publishing and printing company, 'Slobodna Dalmacija d.d.', which is a significant factor in the media and whose majority owner is the State Agency for the Insurance of Savings Investments and the Rehabilitation of Banks, the Government decided to issue a letter of intent for three government guarantees to Slobodna Dalmacija Ltd. in favour of foreign and domestic creditors. This would thereby commence the rehabilitation of this company. The Government also considered proposed amendments to a final bill on the organisation and scope of activities of ministries and state administrative bodies as well as changes to a bill on amendments and supplements to the law on the system of the state administration and will accordingly inform the Croatian National Sabor.
