ZAGREB, May 6 (Hina) - There were a total of 28.243 business people in Croatia with blocked accounts at the end of March. The total unpaid debts amounted to US$2.56 billion, while, according to unofficial information, the number grew
to between US$2.78 billion and US$2.85 billion. These increases have been expected due to the annulment of acceptance orders which increased illiquidity to US$2.3 billion. This was information from a Croatian Government session at which a report of the commission for solving illiquidity was adopted. Commission chairman Dinko Zidarevic said in the 28,243 companies with blocked accounts, 187,000 people are employed. Out of the total number of blocked companies, 84 per cent are privately owned and have 57 per cent of the total debt, he said.(hina) lml jn
