ZAGREB, May 3 (Hina) - The children and youth participating in a traditional international competition entitled "Europe in Schools" were presented with awards in honour of European Day, May 9, at the Europe House in Zagreb on Monday.
The theme of this year's, the 50th anniversary of the Council of Europe, was "Human Rights and I", attracted some 265 primary, 77 secondary and two tertiary institutions from all Croatia's counties. Some one hundred students were granted awards from the 281 literary, 723 art, and 41 musical works submitted. The sponsors of the competition were the Council of Europe, the European Commission, the European Parliament, and the European Cultural Foundation. The awarded children were presented with books, while the best - children over 15 - will take part in competitions to be held this summer and which are being prepared by 12 European countries.(hina) sp/ha jn
