YUGO ARMY LEAVES DEMILITARISED AREA BY MONTENEGRIN-CROAT BORDER

NEW YORK, April 27 (Hina) - Yugoslav army troops are withdrawing from the UN-controlled demilitarised area of Prevlaka, and in this way UNMOP has been enabled to continue carrying out its mission, UN Security Council Chairman, French Ambassador Alain Dejammet, said in New York on Tuesday. After yesterday's Security Council session, French Ambassador Dejammet told reporters that the Secretariat had informed of the developments on Prevlaka and that the movement had been enabled for UNMOP members again. According to some sources, the head of the UNMOP mission, Colonel Graeme Williams, on Tuesday held talks with the commander of Yugoslav Army, Vice-Admiral Milan Zec, who told the Colonel that the Yugoslav Army would pull out from the demilitarised area by the end of the day. UNMOP subsequently confirmed the pull-out adding that it would continue controlling the area on the Montenegrin side of the border, just as they did until April 21. (hina) ms
