ZAGREB, April 21 (Hina) - There are no changes for the time being on
Prevlaka, meaning that the Yugoslav Army has entered the yellow
zone on the Montenegrin territory and blocked the road to the border
crossings of Debeli Brijeg and Konfin, Croatian Foreign Minister
Mate Granic told reporters at the National Sabor on Wednesday.
The Yugoslav Army's incursion into the area represents a violation
of all U.N. Security Council resolutions and the agreement on the
normalisation of relations between Croatia and Yugoslavia, Granic
added.
In reaction to the incident, Croatia sent a letter to the Security
Council, which discussed it and adopted a presidential statement
expressing concern and entrusting the U.N. Secretary-General with
monitoring the situation and submitting regular reports, Granic
said.
He expressed hope and belief that the problem would be solved
through diplomacy.
Speaking about the situation in Montenegro, Granic said it was a
matter of Yugoslavia's internal relations with Montenegro.
The situation in Montenegro is blocking the delivery of
humanitarian aid, and the arrival of the Yugoslav Army at the yellow
zone is causing the status of the Croat national minority in Boka
Kotorska to deteriorate, he added.
Granic repeated he hoped the problem would be solved through
diplomatic channels and with the U.N.'s assistance.
Croatia is carefully monitoring the situation and we are ready and
able to protect our interests, Granic said.
