PULA, April 14 (Hina) - In the first three months of this year, some 301 persons amongst whom were 39 children, attempted to illegally cross the Croatian state border in the Istrian county towards the Republic of Slovenia, a
representative of the Istrian county police Boris Skitarelic said at a press conference in Pula, Wednesday. A total of 89 attempts were recorded which is an increase of 47 per cent compared to last year. Illegal border crossings recorded during the first three months of this year involved 148 Yugoslav citizens, mostly Albanian nationals, followed by 94 Rumanians, 23 Macedonians and 10 Turkish citizens. According to Skitarelic, the Istrian county police has filed charges agains ten Croat citizens, four Slovenes and one Yugoslav citizen.
