CLASHES NEAR PRISTINA CONTINUE

PRISTINA, March 21 (Hina) - Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) members on Sunday opened sniper fire at a Serbian police patrol vehicle moving along the Pristina-Podujevo road, the Yugoslav pro-government Media Centre in Pristina reported. There were no victims among the police, police sources in Pristina said. The Pristina-Podujevo road, which leads to the Yugoslav capital Belgrade, was today closed for traffic due to sniper fire, police reported. The same source reported that armed Albanian groups early this morning opened sniper fire at a Serb police vehicle near Srbica, about 60 kilometres west of Pristina. There were no victims in the attack. Media Centre also reported that armed Albanians last night mined a bridge over the Drenica river, in the Glogovac municipality (35 km west of Pristina). The police are at the site of the incident, conducting an investigation into the 'sabotage', it was said. Albanian sources reported that strong Serbian forces have continued the offensive launched yesterday on the wider area of Drenica and Lap near Podujevo, north of Pristina. A new refugee wave, triggered off by the latest clashes, was reported. (hina) rml
