ZAGREB, April 9 (Hina) - Croatian Justice Minister Milan Ramljak
has handed his irrevocable resignation as a Government Vice
President and Justice Minister, asking to be urgently relieved of
his duties.
"I have resigned due to the current changes in the organisation of
the executive authorities of the Republic of Croatia", Ramljak said
in a statement sent to the media on Friday.
Ramljak said that he had informed the Government of his resignation
at a session held on Thursday.
Ramljak's statement was accompanied by a copy of his letter to the
President of the Republic of March 3, 1999, in which he said he
irrevocably resigned from the Government and asked to be urgently
relieved of his duties.
"Since I still have not been relieved of my duties, and since I
personally and the work at the Ministry are suffering because of
that, I informed the Government at yesterday's session of my
resignation and talks held after it with the President of the
Republic, Prime Minister and the President's Office", the
statement read.
"I said that in my last talks with the President's Office on
Tuesday, April 6, I explicitly warned that I would inform the public
of my resignation myself, if that was not done by the President's
Office. However, I did not do it, but addressed the Government and
said I was informing the public through the Government.
I reiterated that my resignation was irrevocable, that I was no
longer ready to perform my duties as a Government Vice President and
Justice Minister and that it was the last time I attended a
Government session in my capacity as a member of the Government",
the statement said.
"Regretfully, I still have not heard of any reports on that (the
resignation) in the public, and am unable to further avoid queries
so there is nothing left for me to do but to state it this way",
Ramljak said.
