ZAGREB, April 7 (Hina) - The State Judicial Council (DSV) appointed
Berislav Zivkovic new State Attorney on Thursday.
Zivkovic, a former secretary at the Croatian National Parliament's
House of Representatives, is taking up the office of State Attorney
after his predecessor Marijan Hranjski was elected a Supreme Court
judge on March 26.
Zivkovic was nominated by the Government and was appointed
unanimously by the DSV.
The new State Attorney was born on November 5, 1959 in Zagreb. He
graduated from the Zagreb Faculty of Law in 1982 and passed his bar
exam in 1986. Since early 1988, he had worked as Deputy Municipal
State Attorney in Zagreb and in November 1992 was appointed
Municipal State Attorney. In 1994, he worked at the Foreign
Ministry and since the beginning of 1996 he had worked as House of
Representatives' secretary.
Zivkovic's appointment is the last in a series of appointments of
the highest judicial officials, following the appointment of a
former Supreme Court President Milan Vukovic as a Constitutional
Court judge. The post of Supreme Court President was filled by
Marijan Ramuscak and shortly after that appointment, the post of
Supreme Court judge was filled by Marijan Hranjski, which left the
office of State Attorney open for new candidates.
