EASTER MASS HELD IN ZAGREB CATHEDRAL

ZAGREB, April 4 (Hina) - The Archbishop of Zagreb, Msgr. Josip Bozanic, headed the Easter Mass at the Zagreb Cathedral on Sunday. Participating in the celebration of the Eucharist were also a former Zagreb Archbishop, Cardinal Franjo Kuharic, Apostolic Nuncio Giulio Einaudi and two Auxiliary Zagreb Bishops, Josip Mrzljak and Vlado Kosic. Archbishop Bozanic greeted the gathered faithful with the words of the resurrected Christ "Peace be with you!". Today we are celebrating the birth of a new world. This is the most excellent day, because it was created by the Lord, Bozanic said at the beginning of Mass. "Today, the act of creation reaches its culmination: death has been conquered, the Lord is resurrected. Everything is in Christ: the humanity and its history, the nature and the universe, they all have been finally embraced and redeemed. To seek and find the Resurrected One means to understand the last meaning of the world and one's own life and see in advance that nothing will be lost in the end", Bozanic said. Christ is offering us his day, he is opening for us a new world on condition that we never come back to what we once were. One should burn the bridges of the old self: the bridges of betrayal, of being left, of escape, fear and hatred. The message of Easter is the most human thing a man could wish, it is a general message because Christ died for all people, Bozanic said. The Zagreb Archbishop called on all people to pray today for peace in Kosovo, and for all displaced and expelled people. Easter Mass was celebrated throughout Croatia on Sunday. (hina) rml
