It was pointed out during the talks that Croatian-Indian political relations were on the ascendant, and that both countries wished to further strengthen these relations, as well as ties between the two parliaments. Indian Vice President and Upper House president Krishan Kant, Lower House president G.M.C. Balayogi, and state secretary Vashundara Raje expressed the genuine friendship India and its parliament feel towards Croatia, appreciating its independent position and struggle for independence, said Vladimir Seks, the head of the Croatian delegation. During talks with Kant and Bayalogi, it was agreed to establish stronger inter-parliamentary cooperation. This, Seks believes, will contribute to strengthening and developing the currently excellent political relations between Croatia and India. Three inter-state agreements and those being drafted, for instance on the avoidance of double taxation, will contribute to the development of economic cooperation, Seks said. Talks with Indian officials also tackled many foreign policy subjects. The Croatian delegation expressed Croatia's view of the NATO strikes on Yugoslavia. Seks said Croatia would support India's endeavours to become a standing member of the United Nations Security Council, while India promised to support Croatia in international institutions. Reiterated during the talks were the invitations to the Croatian President to visit India, and to the Indian President to visit Croatia. The Croatian parliamentary delegation was today acquainted with India's industrial potentials during a visit to the industrial complex of the city of Faridabad. The delegation also visited the Croatian Embassy in New Delhi. On Thursday the delegation will visit Goa and Mumbay. (hina) ha
