LONDON, 30 March (Hina) - Croatian Ambassador in London denied
allegations released in the British media that Croatia was
inaccessible or at least risky for tourists due to NATO air strikes
on Yugoslavia.
The Ambassador forwarded letters to the editor of the London
dailies "The Times" and "The Daily Telegraph", pointing out that
they had published incorrect information that it was not possible
to fly to Croatia due to the NATO actions in Kosovo.
Croatia's air space was closed on Thursday yet on Friday it was re-
opened for civilian traffic, said Ambassador Andrija Kojakovic in
his letters to the editors of "The Times" and "The Daily
Telegraph".
In response to the quotes that British tourist agencies intended to
cancel their vacation reservations to Croatia, Ambassador
Kojakovic stressed that Croatia was a safe destination for holidays
and there was no reason whatsoever for tourist agencies to cancel
their travel plans to Croatia.
The editor of "The Times" on Monday replied to the letter sent by
Kojakovic promising he would correct the mistake in the next issue
of the special travel feature published in the paper.
"The Daily Telegraph" has not responded to the Ambassador's letter
as yet.
