SARAJEVO, Feb 25 (Hina) - There are still some 10,000 Kosovo Albanian refugees in Bosnia-Herzegovina, although a very small number arrived into the country in the past two months, spokeswoman for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees
(UNHCR), Ariane Quentier, said on Wednesday in Sarajevo. The refugees are Kosovo Albanians who sought refuge in the Bosnian Federation. The figure of 10,000 refugees is based on assessment because the Albanians had not registered with the UNHCR directly upon arrival. Requests for asylum were received by the organisation from 6,935 Kosovo refugees, who received assistance. More than 1,500 Albanians have been accommodated in collective centres, while the rest found private accommodation. Refugees who arrived in Bosnia-Herzegovina seeking refuge from conflicts in the Yugoslav province of Kosovo do not have the possibility of leaving for third countries.(hina) lml jn
