SKOPJE, Mar 18 (Hina) - Croatian Foreign Minister Mate Granic on Thursday said in Skopje Croatia and Macedonia are two friendly countries with equal strategic goals in foreign policy. "We believe that European institutions, especially
the European Union, should be approached according to one's own achievements, and not through any new associations or conditions," Granic told reporters at the end of his two-day visit to Macedonia. During the visit, Granic met Macedonian Foreign Minister Aleksandar Dimitrov, President Kiro Gligorov, Premier Ljupco Georgijevski, and parliament president Savo Klimovski. "We exchanged experiences in joint efforts aimed at approaching Euro-Atlantic integration," Dimitrov told the same press conference, adding in that respect "the interests of Croatia and Macedonia are identical." and not through any new associations or conditions," Granic told
reporters at the end of his two-day visit to Macedonia.
During the visit, Granic met Macedonian Foreign Minister
Aleksandar Dimitrov, President Kiro Gligorov, Premier Ljupco
Georgijevski, and parliament president Savo Klimovski.
"We exchanged experiences in joint efforts aimed at approaching
Euro-Atlantic integration," Dimitrov told the same press
conference, adding in that respect "the interests of Croatia and
Macedonia are identical."
The two foreign ministers stressed Croatia and Macedonia enjoy
excellent relations, without open issues, and that in many fields,
economy in particular, both countries aspire to advanced
cooperation.
"As regards economic cooperation, at present it revolves around
US$100 million, and we believe we can improve it significantly,"
Granic said.
The two most important agreements among the 18 signed between the
two countries are the agreement on free trade and the agreement on
property relations, he added.
During Granic's visit, Croatia and Macedonia arranged several
mutual visits on all levels.
Macedonian President Gligorov reiterated his invitation to
Croatian counterpart Tudjman to visit Skopje. Macedonian Premier
Georgijevski should visit Croatia in the near future at Croatian
Premier Matesa's invitation.
Macedonian parliamentary president Klimovski invited Croatian
counterpart Pavletic to visit Macedonia, while Macedonian Foreign
Minister Dimitrov should soon visit Croatia.
