ZAGREB, Feb 23 (Hina) - A total of 1,175 foreign tourist reporters will visit Croatia within a programme for the promotion of Croatian tourism in 1999, the Croatian Tourist Authorities has announced. Most of these journalists will
come from Germany, Italy, Austria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Great Britain, France, the Netherlands, Hungary and Poland. These reporters are expected in Croatia prior to the beginning of the tourist season, so that they can give more incentives, by their reports and articles, for their fellow countrymen to spend holidays in Croatia. At the moment, a team of the Italian tourist magazine "L'Airona" is touring the Plitivce Lakes to prepare a special future on these gorgeous lakes in the central Croatia for the next issue of the magazine. During February a British tourist reporter, Jonathan Borsfield,
has been touring Croatia, to collect material for pages on this
country in a British tourist guide "Rought Guide". Borsfield will
also prepare a special issue "Rought Guide Croatia", which will be
published next year.
During the carnival in the Croatian biggest seaport of Rijeka, on
the northern Adriatic coast, a Dutch TV crew made a documentary on
carnival customs of that Croatian region.
From 24 February to 3 March, 25 Israeli tour-operators and
journalists are to visit Croatia.
The Croatian Tourist Authorities are planning another four study
tours for foreign correspondents about sports, fishing, rural
vacations, gastronomy, wines and national parks.
