ZAGREB, Feb 22 (Hina) - Ivan Djurkic, a candidate for Croatia's new agriculture and forestry minister has been performing the duty of Deputy Agriculture and Forestry Minister. Djurkic was born in Slakovci, Stari Jankovci municipality
(eastern Croatia) in 1949. He graduated from the Higher School of Agriculture in Osijek in 1971. He worked at the Osijek Agricultural Institute as head of the seed department until May 1998, when he was appointed Deputy Agriculture and Forestry Minister. Djurkic attended postgraduate studies in genetics and plant breeding at the Zagreb University Faculty of Agronomy, where he earned his Masters degree in 1980. He published several research papers and participated at expert and scientific conferences in Croatia and abroad. Djurkic is married and has two children.
