Monday presented the new Croatian government bond issue at the
Grand Hotel in Milan.
Skegro told the Italian financiers in attendance that the problems
extant in Croatian economy were marginal.
The political authority in Croatia is stable and this stands for
economic stability, the minister said.
The fifth foreign currency government bond issue presented today is
the first in euro and is intended primarily for European Union
countries, Switzerland, and other European countries, as well as
for part of the U.S. capital in Europe.
Skegro's visit was the first presentation of Croatia's economy in

The Italians were mainly interested in the current political and
economic situation in Croatia.
The Finance Minister said several minor banks were undergoing a
crisis, which means that their share in the entire banking capital
is only six percent. Skegro said four major banks had overcome
crises and were doing good business at present.
Skegro also said the unemployment issue was not cause for concern.
