Upon his arrival in Zagreb on Saturday night from a three-day
official visit to Germany, Biskupic announced the intensification
of this cooperation.
In Germany he held talks with German representatives in Berlin,
Erfurt and Weimar on this matter.

Speaking of cultural projects on which Croatia and Germany agreed,
Biskupic accentuated the inclusion of his country in a grand
European project - "Charlemagne and Creation of Europe"
exhibition.
During 1999, 2000 and 2001, the exhibition about this famous king of
the Franks and the emperor of the Holy Roman Empire from 800 to 814
will be staged in several cities in Italy, Germany, Spain, Great
Britain, France and Croatia.
In 2001, Croatia will organise an exhibition called "Croatians and
Carolingians" in Split to show historical links between the
Croatian and Frank States from 8th to the end of 10th century,
Biskupic said.
This event will also be used to present the development of the
Croatian State in the early Middle Ages.
In addition to organising this exhibition, Croatia will also
prepare a project called "Glagolitsa" including the publishing in
the German language the book entitled "Litterarum Studia -
Literature and Education of Croatia's Early Middle Ages" by an
eminent linguist and philologist, Radoslav Katicic.
The exhibition and the book will confirm Croatia's belonging to the
Western Christian civilisation at those times.
During his stay in Germany, Biskupic agreed on an exhibition of
Dubrovnik painters to open in Berlin as well as other shows for
promoting works of Croatian artists and cultural heritage.
The Croatian official and German hosts agreed on organising the
Croatian-German theatre project "Goethe's Dream" according to a
script by a Croatian promising writer, Darko Lukic. Actors from the
Croatian "ITD Teatar" and the German drama school "Ernest Buch"
would be engaged in this project.
Biskupic also held talks on the engagement of Croatian musicians in
the German project "Bach 2000" with an aim to mark the work of this
great German composer from the Baroque period, at the beginning of
the third millennium. In return German musicians will continue
taking part in the Varazdin Baroque Evenings".
The two parties agreed on joint concerts to be performed by the
"Landesjugend Orchestra" and the "Ivan Goran Kovacic Collegiate
Choir" in Zagreb and Berlin.
He also discussed the participation of young German musicians in
international contests which take place in Croatia.
