PRISTINA, Feb 21 (Hina) - Kosovo was calm on Sunday morning, according to Serbian, Albanian and international sources. The conflict-ridden province saw a calm morning following fresh attacks against several villages which the Serbian
forces had launched yesterday, according to Saturday's reports of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) news agency, and following a frantic day of negotiations in Rambouillet, France, where the Kosovo peace conference is being continued after the extension of the deadline until Tuesday for the conclusion of an agreement between the Belgrade regime and ethnic Albanians. Kosovo Albanians felt relief to learn of the news that a progress had been made last night at the Rambouillet negotiations and that their representatives had accepted on principle and with only two objections a plan of the six-nation Contact Group. PRISTINA, Feb 21 (Hina) - Kosovo was calm on Sunday morning,
according to Serbian, Albanian and international sources.
The conflict-ridden province saw a calm morning following fresh
attacks against several villages which the Serbian forces had
launched yesterday, according to Saturday's reports of the Kosovo
Liberation Army (KLA) news agency, and following a frantic day of
negotiations in Rambouillet, France, where the Kosovo peace
conference is being continued after the extension of the deadline
until Tuesday for the conclusion of an agreement between the
Belgrade regime and ethnic Albanians.
Kosovo Albanians felt relief to learn of the news that a progress
had been made last night at the Rambouillet negotiations and that
their representatives had accepted on principle and with only two
objections a plan of the six-nation Contact Group.
The Pristina-based Albanian daily "Kosova Sot" on Sunday quoted the
leader of the Albanian delegation at the peace conference, Hashim
Thaqi, as saying that the Kosovo Albanian delegation had come in
Rambouillet to find an interim political solution for the coming
three years which can provide for the right of ethnic Albanians to
express their free will, that is, to hold a referendum on
independence.
